Pokémon and adidas are going all in for the franchise’s 30th anniversary. More than a dozen pairs have surfaced already, and this is not just a Superstar pack with a few character graphics slapped on. The lineup stretches across several adidas models, covers adult and kids’ sizing, and pulls from some of the most recognizable names in the series.
Pikachu shows up three times. One Superstar uses soft yellow suede, character faces on the heels, and plush ears attached to the tongues. Another keeps the colors more familiar with a white and black upper covered in Pikachu artwork. The Pro Model is the most playful of the three, finished with yellow pony hair and a large Pikachu charm near the heel.
Mewtwo has an even broader presence with versions of the Handball Spezial, Samba, and ZX 8000. Purple and pink connect the group, but the details are handled differently on each shoe. The Spezial adds a heel piece shaped around Mewtwo’s body. The Samba has character artwork on the tongue, a glossy purple heel, and a modified three-eyelet setup inspired by Mewtwo’s hands. A Master Ball lace dubrae and molded heel pieces give the ZX 8000 its own identity.
Two of the more technical shoes belong to Rayquaza. Green scale-like materials, yellow markings, and an oversized lace cover bring the character to the Megaride F50. The adiStar Control 5 takes a less literal approach, working the theme into layered mesh, synthetic overlays, reflective hits, and metallic detailing.
Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard each take over a Superstar. The Charmander pair combines white, yellow, and orange with flames worked around the Three Stripes. Charmeleon shifts into darker red shades and adds extra texture to the shell toe. Charizard gets the wildest design of the three, complete with an orange scale-covered upper, green around the collar, and removable wings placed over the laces.
Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar bring a darker look to the collection. Gastly covers an adiStar Control 3 in black and purple, while Haunter’s adiStar Control 5 includes pointed tongue extensions with pink hiding underneath. Gengar appears on the adiStar XLG 2.0, where raised side panels form its eyes and white mesh on the toe completes the face when viewed from above.
The Pokémon x adidas 30th Anniversary Collection is expected to arrive in September 2026. Models in the collection include the Superstar, Pro Model, Samba, Handball Spezial, ZX 8000, Megaride F50, and multiple adiStar silhouettes.
