Following their 2002R “Masquerade” release from earlier this year, DTLR is now taking their talents to South Beach with its next New Balance collaboration.

Dubbed, “Miami Drive”, this offering of the New Balance 990v3 features a Grey suede and mesh upper highlighted with vibrant contrasting accents inspired by the city of Miami. Turquoise nods to the beach waters, Pink resembles the pink skies, and Orange is the sunshine.

Nike will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Air Force 1 in 2022 with plenty of collaborative releases. One of those includes the Stussy x Nike Air Force 1 Mid that will be arriving during Spring 2022.

There are three color options that will be available. The first Nike Air Force 1 Mid features a Light Bone tumbled leather upper with Black overlays and Stussy branding on the ankle strap. The second, “Fossil Hemp”, is basically a Mid version of the AF1 Low released in 2020. The third pair, “Black Luxe Leather”, features a Black leather upper paired with tonal faux snakeskin Swooshes. Each pair comes with double “S” perforations at the toe box, jewel embellishments on the heels and Stussy text on the straps.

Look for the Stussy x Nike Air Force 1 Mid styles to begin releasing May 13th at Stussy.com and May 19th on Nike.com. The retail price tag is set at $150 USD each.

Better Air Jordan 1: “Off-White” or “Union”

The Air Jordan 1 has been part of some highly sought-after collaborations over the years. Two of those included one with Virgil Abloh and another with Los Angeles-based menswear boutique, Union.

Kicking off the collection from Virgil was the Off-White x Air Jordan 1 in the classic “Chicago” colorway. It comes in a deconstructed aesthetic with stitched Swooshes, signature text completed with the popular zip tie.

One of the two colorways from the Union x Air Jordan 1 collab came dressed in a “Storm Blue” makeup. It featured a “cut and paste” theme combining two original colorways of the Air Jordan 1 into one shoe. This version combined the body of the “Storm Blue” with the ankle of the “Bred” colorway.

Sneaker Talk: Air Jordan 1 High OG “Shattered Backboard”

Released in June 2015, the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Shattered Backboard” nods to the time Michael Jordan shattered a backboard after a dunk during the 1985 Nike Europe tour while wearing an Orange, Black, and White uniform.

To commemorate the moment and uniform, the “Shattered Backboard” blocking was created. This iconic Air Jordan 1 is modeled after the OG “Black Toe” AJ1 replacing the Red with Orange. It is now one of the most sought after non-original colorways of the legendary shoe.

Kyrie Irving’s Nike Contract Possibly Ending in 2023

Kyrie Irving has been signed to Nike since 2014, which includes releasing eight signature shoes along with a handful of takedown models such as the Kyrie Flytrap.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne, Nike is reported to discontinue Kyrie’s current endorsement deal at the end of the 2022-23 NBA season. His upcoming Nike Kyrie 9, which will debut this fall, will be his last signature shoe.

The report also stated that Nike Kyrie products are still expected to be released after Irving’s current deal comes to an end next year including bringing back retro styles from past releases.

Last year when the Kyrie Infinity (Kyrie 8) was revealed the Nets guard publicly called the design of the shoe “trash” on social media in June 2021 ahead of its retail debut.

“We don’t comment on contracts or rumors or speculation. Kyrie remains a Nike athlete,” a Nike spokesperson told ESPN.

Sneaker Politics has teamed up with ASICS to release a special edition Gel Lyte III that pays homage to the shop’s founder Derek Curry’s military service.

“From the very first day of training, it’s seared into your brain that if it doesn’t fit in the bag, you don’t bring it,” Curry said. “The Army played a major role in my life and I am thrilled to finally be bringing these two worlds together. Without it, there wouldn’t be a Sneaker Politics.”

Dubbed, “Always Read,” this offering of the Sneaker Politics x ASICS Gel Lyte III comes in a color blocking nodding back to his military uniforms. It features an Olive Green canvas base with tonal suede overlays, Black Tiger Stripes, and military-style “POLITICS” badges on the lateral ankle. Other details includes tear marks on the toes revealing the United States flag along with “P” branded heels and co-branded insoles.
