When the Jordan Brand reissues Olympic-era designs, they always have stories to tell. The Air Jordan 7 “Tinker Alternate” is one such example; it shows us how sneaker history almost came out differently. Tinker Hatfield made this pair in the same 1992 design cycle as the “Olympic” pair, and it shows how the Jordan 7 might have looked in Barcelona.

This version breaks away from the familiar red/white/blue layout. The combination of white leather and deep blue colorways is a big change of tone, with more contrast and graphic quality to the color blocking. It is a great Jordan 7 alternate colorway, but it has a slightly different energy that’s true to the silhouette’s beginnings.

One of the details that make this Air Jordan 7 so unique is the number “9” on the heel. This is a reference to Michael Jordan’s Olympic number, and it’s a rare tribute to MJ’s international career.
