Kyrie Irving Nike Hyperdunk 2013: Reflecting his Past & Future

Kyrie Irving Nike Hyperdunk

Since its debut in the summer of 2008, the Nike Hyperdunk has continued to push the boundaries of basketball innovation. The 2013 edition of the Nike Hyperdunk continues to evolve, with the latest version built for All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving’s versatile game while focusing on his lineage as inspiration.

Designed by Peter Fogg, the Nike Hyperdunk 2013 builds on its minimalist aesthetic with three of basketball’s most transformative technologies: Dynamic Nike Flywire, Hyperfuse construction and Lunarlon cushioning. The lightweight fit and feel of this iteration sets a new standard while the lockdown support, intuitive stability and advanced herringbone traction are based on insight and inspiration from the world’s top basketball players such as Irving.

Irving’s past and future is the main theme of Irving’s 2013 Hyperdunk as told through color and material. Born in Melbourne, Australia, where his father, Drederick, played professional basketball, Irving is proud of his roots. The green-toned teal and volt colorway is a futuristic take on Australia’s National basketball team colorway of green and yellow. Featured on the tongue and lining is a “wave” graphic that depicts the story of his travels overseas from Melbourne to New Jersey.

From a design standpoint, Nike used inspiration from Irving’s off-court style highlighted by his admiration for rich, rustic materials with a modern flair. That insight is excentuated in the upper through a contemporary texture with a subtle metallic finish.

Irving has a bold and progressive style of play and his future is certainly bright. The new Hyperdunk 2013 designed around Irving’s journey is available today at Nike.com and select retailers worldwide.

Bodega x New Balance 577 “HYPRCAT” Release Info

Bodega x New Balance 577

Modeled after one of the popular 3D first person shooter games of the ’90s, Star Fox, the Bodega x New Balance 577 HYPRCAT takes its inspiration from the game’s outer space setting and vintage graphics. In the midst of the Sega vs. Nintendo wars, game developers squeezed in every graphical improvement they could. Inspired by Nintendo’s push to include 3D effects in their games, our designers included similar polygon graphics into this project, specifically on the tongue and sole. Click through for more design and release info, as well as some more visual knowledge.

The HYPRCAT features gray perforated nubuck suede on the toe and tongue, and traditional suede on the heel cup. The heel tab and parts of the mid panel are a soft purple suede making for a nice contrast throughout. The classic ‘N’ logo is a yellow stitched suede on top of a smooth donegal fleck material with a variety of colors throughout. The front portion of the midsole and the inner neoprene lining is a soft pink along with magenta stripes on the laces. The out sole is a light translucent blue. Releasing in-store on Saturday, September 7th at 11am, the Bodega x New Balance 577 HYPRCAT, which will retail at $160USD, will be available for online purchases on Sunday, September 8th at 11:59pm.

Nike KD IV “305” Custom

Nike KD 4

Chef of GourmetKickz loves his 305 theme, so much in fact that he has again revisited this recipe of palm prints, bright colors and tropical ingredients to create a Nike KD IV “305” Custom. This Nike KD IV Custom embodies Miami Beach more than any other shoe from his custom sneaker pack. It features tropical palm prints all over the midsoles, straps and tongues. The base of the shoe remains grey with pink lining while the sole has been dyed to a glass black (having been green before hitting Chef’s Kitchen). The swooshes on the upper are painted aqua with pink stippling and the strap swooshes, well those are a whole other story!

The strap swooshes and tongue emblems are a combination of sea glass, aqua stones, and seashells back-lit with glow material. Once the lights go out the shoe is transformed into a piece of art unto its own; midsole, strap, swoosh and tongue all glow in the dark giving this custom another dimension of character and appeal. The “305” Nike KD IV Custom is a 1 of 1 and is a size 11. It will be up for grabs via AF1King.com so if you crave a unique piece of wearable art hit Chef up and you might just eat like a Sneaker King.
