Similar to how Nike outfits elite youth athletes in the U.S. through circuits like Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL), the CHBL program also receives exclusive player-edition footwear. For the 2025–2026 season, Nike has prepared several eye-catching PE designs tied together by a cosmic, space-inspired concept.

Nike’s neuroscience-inspired Mind series continues expanding for Spring 2026, and Hiroshi Fujiwara is helping push the concept forward. The Fragment x Nike Mind 001 “Black” arrives as part of a collaborative capsule that will also include multiple Fragment x Nike Mind 002 colorways releasing around the same time.

The Mind 001 mule first gained attention online thanks to its unconventional slip-on design and science-driven performance concept. Fujiwara’s collaboration keeps the futuristic approach intact while introducing a stealthy black build accented by Fragment’s signature royal blue details.

Design updates help separate this pair from the standard version. The Fragment Nike Mind 001 Black replaces the usual dimpled center panel with a reinforced textile overlay across the vamp, which is stamped with Fragment’s lightning bolt logo. Additional collaboration cues appear throughout the design, including printed “Fragment Concept Testing” text along the sidewall referencing the Spring 2026 launch window.

Underfoot, the mule retains the Mind series’ signature cushioning system. The outsole features 22 spherical nodes finished in Fragment blue, creating subtle contrast against the otherwise monochrome sculpted midsole.

Hiroshi Fujiwara and Fragment Design are expanding their latest Nike collaboration with another look at the Nike Mind 002. While the project first surfaced with the clean “Particle Grey” edition, the spotlight now shifts to a darker counterpart. The Fragment Design x Nike Mind 002 “Black” introduces a stealthy colorway that further highlights the experimental silhouette set to release this Spring.

Compared to the previously revealed grey version, this pair leans into a deeper and more understated palette. The upper arrives dressed in black Flyknit, replacing the model’s usual padded and dimpled construction with a lighter and more breathable knit build. This material shift keeps the design modern while still aligning with Fragment’s signature minimal approach.

Textural contrast plays a key role throughout the sneaker. A plush, fleece-like overlay stretches across the forefoot, adding dimension to the otherwise monochrome upper. Flat laces weave through exposed Flywire cables, providing structural support while maintaining the shoe’s stripped-down aesthetic.

Underfoot, the Mind 002’s signature cushioning pods remain one of the model’s defining features. Here, the spherical pods appear in Fragment’s familiar royal blue tone, delivering a subtle pop of color beneath the black sculpted midsole.
