Edison Chen’s adidas Originals partnership continues to highlight emerging Chinese designers. Caroline Hu, a finalist for the LVMH Young Designer Award, returns with a fresh take on the adidas Samba. First introduced in Spring/Summer 2024, her new collaboration for Spring/Summer 2025 transforms the iconic silhouette with a luxurious satin finish and signature couture smocking details.

The Caroline Hu x adidas Samba reimagines the classic sneaker with a handcrafted look. The upper features distressed satin, raw edges, and exposed stitching, reflecting her high-fashion craftsmanship. The washed-out vintage aesthetic adds depth, making each pair feel unique. The collection debuts in three striking colorways: deep red with off-white Three Stripes and gum soles, navy blue with metallic silver branding, and metallic silver with soft cream details. While keeping the traditional gum sole, Hu’s branding on the tongue adds an exclusive touch.

This collaboration blends classic sportswear with haute couture, bringing a fresh perspective to the Samba. The textural updates and unique fabric manipulation make these sneakers stand out.

Balenciaga Revamps The PUMA Speedcat For Winter 2025 Release

Balenciaga has officially debuted its first collaboration with PUMA, unveiling the Speedcat Ultrasoft. This high-fashion version of the iconic 1988 Speedcat draws inspiration from the world of motorsport. Designed under Demna’s creative direction, the Speedcat Ultrasoft blends Balenciaga’s avant-garde style with PUMA’s racing heritage. The result is a unique fusion of luxury fashion and motorsport aesthetics.

The Speedcat Ultrasoft stays true to Demna’s bold design style, featuring a slim, elongated toe box. A distressed suede upper, along with deconstructed stitching, gives the sneaker a worn-in, vintage look. The addition of gold foil Balenciaga branding and a visible size marking further enhances its premium feel. This combination of luxurious and raw elements makes the Speedcat Ultrasoft a standout piece in Balenciaga’s collection.

Beyond footwear, the collaboration extends to the introduction of the Marché Bag. This tote, designed to resemble a crinkled plastic shopping bag, is made from Dyneema—an ultra-durable material commonly used in military and aerospace. The co-branded Balenciaga x PUMA logo is prominently displayed, reinforcing the partnership’s industrial and high-fashion fusion.

The Winter 2025 Balenciaga show in Paris also showcased apparel pieces from the collaboration, including tracksuits, sweatsuits, a leather jacket, and a robe. These items complement the Speedcat Ultrasoft and Marché Bag, highlighting the blend of luxury, sportswear, and utilitarian fashion. This collection reflects Balenciaga’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of functional, high-concept streetwear.

The collection will be available in Winter 2025 at Balenciaga stores, select PUMA retailers, and online.
