Since 2003, Nike has partnered with the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland giving young patients an opportunity to design their very own pair of sneakers, with all of the proceeds going back into the hospital.
This year, the Nike 2018 Doernbecher Freestyle Collection will include the Nike Zoom Fly that will be designed by Payton Fentress who lives in Portland. In 2010, he was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. He is a lover of baseball, Jurassic World, his prized guitar and a good burger and fries.
Dressed in a White, Green Shock, Blue Hero, and Habanero Red color scheme. The shoe features a full translucent upper covered in bright multicolored tones. It comes in a baseball theme as a nod to the 2016 World Series Champions Chicago Cubs. Baseball branded tongues, the year 1977 and 2016 are displayed on the heels, along with “Greatest Of All Time” printed on the midsole, and Goat and Payton printed on the laces tips. Aside from its vibrant color tone, the shoe is completed with graphic insoles, one is a nod to the Sports Illustrated cover when the Cubs won the World Series, and the other in a baseball motif.
