Nike World Headquarters Renamed Philip H. Knight Campus

Published on

Nike today announced that the company’s World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon will officially be known as the Philip H. Knight Campus. The new name honors Nike co-founder and Chairman Emeritus Phil Knight, and marks the first time in the campus’ 35-year history that its name has changed. The move is a testament to the lasting legacy of Knight’s belief in building an audacious brand and taking risks on innovative ideas that have built Nike into the global cultural institution it is today.

The rechristening of Nike’s flagship campus was announced by President and CEO Elliott Hill in an address to employees, on the one-year anniversary of his appointment to the role. In his letter to employees, Hill underscored that the campus renaming is more than just a change of name: it is a reflection of the same spirit of curiosity, questioning and determination that Knight and his original team of designers and collaborators brought to the company’s creation. “This is who we are,” Hill wrote in his letter. “This is the story of what happens when belief and action meet.”

The campus opened in 1990 and has since housed Nike’s R&D, design, brand and corporate teams. Occupying 400 acres in Beaverton, Oregon, the original campus is known for its moniker, “The Shoe Campus”, and includes building names that honor Nike-adjacent athletes that have been pivotal in Nike’s history and success, such as Michael Jordan, Steve Prefontaine, Joan Benoit Samuelson, Serena Williams, and LeBron James.

Over the next year, the Philip H. Knight Campus name will be updated on wayfinding, branding, and internal materials. A campus dedication ceremony will be held in Spring 2026.
