Nike Mercurial Superfly iD – Available June 12th

Published on

First unveiled in 1998, the original Mercurial football boot was a radical and unprecedented design that established Nike as the leader in football boot innovation. With the new 2014 Mercurial Superfly, Nike has created not just another cutting-edge boot but a leap forward for on-pitch speed. Now, for the first time, this breakthrough innovation is available for customization with the new Mercurial Superfly iD. Customization options provide players the chance to mimic the personalized boot approach seen on pitch by today’s top athletes.

Born from four years of R&D in the Nike Sport Research Lab, and driven by insights from the world’s fastest athletes, the Mercurial Superfly provides improved fit, touch and traction, specifically tuned for speed. For the first time, the Mercurial utilizes Nike Flyknit technology specially engineered for football.

Through NIKEiD, players can now choose from a variety of options to customize the new Mercurial. Players can select from three plate options to fit their playing needs, FG (advanced traction on firmer grass fields), SG-Pro (for extra grip on softer ground) or AG (for artificial turf).

For personalized style, players can select an exclusive Safari graphic overlay and choose from nine solid colors, allowing them to stand out on pitch or create a cohesive team look. The Swoosh, logo border, and laces are also available to customize from up to 12 color choice, with a special graphic option available on the Swoosh.

Football players can also mimic the customized elements commonly seen on top players’ boots and select a jersey number; one of 12 country flags; or personalize the boot with a custom name or nickname. Five unique icons specific to the Mercurial and speed will also be available for added personalization.

The Nike Mercurial Superfly iD will be available to customize exclusively at nike.com/NIKEiD beginning June 12.
