Nike and Liberty are paying tribute to the 1970s with their latest Nike x Liberty 2015 Summer Collection. The collection includes the return of the Nike Air Rift, Nike Air Max 90 Ultra, Nike Tennis Classic Ultra, Nike Cortez, the Nike Zenji, and the Nike Air Max Thea – which all feature the rarely seen Merlin print, originally designed by Liberty for a silk scarf back in 1972.
Originally introduced back in 1993, the Nike Air Rift is back and ready to make some noise in 2015. This collection highlights the Nike Air Rift that is built with its unusual aesthetics that are complemented by Liberty’s Merlin print for a unique expression of sport driven style.
Alongside the Air Rift, the footwear collection also offers the Nike Air Max 90 Ultra, that is done in the Merlin print covering the entire upper; the Nike Tennis Classic Ultra, featuring a full Merlin upper and plain White tongue to set off the design; the classic Nike Cortez featuring a full Merlin upper; the Nike Zenji with an understated Merlin pattern behind the Nike Swoosh; and the Nike Air Max Thea, which includes a Merlin upper and a distinctive White Nike Swoosh heel.
The Nike x Liberty 2015 Summer Collection will release exclusively at Liberty London on Thursday, April 23rd, 2015. The Nike x Liberty Air Rift will launch on nike.com/sportwear and at select Nike Sportswear retailers on Monday, May 4th and the rest of the collection will become available Friday, May 15th.
