More than ten years have passed since the Kobe 10 first hit the court, and Nike is bringing it back with a completely different setup under the hood. The shape is still familiar, especially that low-to-the-ground profile, but the new Protro version has been rebuilt where it matters most.
The old Lunarlon and heel Zoom Air combination is gone. In its place, Nike added Cushlon 3.0 foam with a full-length Zoom Strobel unit sitting directly beneath the foot. That change should give the Kobe 10 a quicker response while creating a smoother, more even feel from the heel through the forefoot.
Nike stayed with engineered mesh for the upper, though it is not the same material used on the original pair. The construction now allows more air to move through the shoe and gives the foot a little more freedom during play. There is also extra room around the forefoot, while reinforced areas help prevent the foot from shifting during hard cuts or sudden changes in direction.
Nike used current athlete movement data to reshape the outsole without completely abandoning the traction concept found on the 2015 model. The carbon fiber wing near the forefoot is back for side-to-side support, and Kobe Bryant’s hidden “Endure and Conquer” message remains part of the design.
The first pair out of the gate will be the all-white “Halo” colorway, continuing the birthday series created in Bryant’s honor. Previous releases included the Kobe 8 Protro in 2023, the Kobe 9 Protro in 2024 and the Kobe 3 Protro in 2025. More mesh-based Kobe 10 colorways are expected to arrive throughout 2026, with Flyknit versions reportedly coming in 2027 with ZoomX cushioning.
