Wale Debuts Nike GT Future “Wheat” at Commanders Training Camp

Wale gave us an early look at a new Nike GT Future colorway while visiting Washington Commanders training camp, stepping out in a “Wheat” pair that happened to fit right in with the team’s burgundy and gold colors.

The biggest change appears to be the material. From the photos, the upper looks to be covered in suede, giving the GT Future a completely different feel compared to the performance-focused versions we’ve seen so far. The wheat finish also brings to mind familiar fall footwear like Timberland boots, Nike Air Force 1 “Flax” releases, and some of the earth-toned Nike Goadome colorways Wale has worn over the years.

Using suede on a basketball shoe isn’t exactly typical, but this version seems aimed more at everyday wear. Wale has already been closely connected to the GT Future rollout, and pairs like this continue to show how Nike could push the model beyond the court.

Release details for the Nike GT Future “Wheat” have not been confirmed. With the colorway surfacing ahead of fall, a Fall/Winter 2026 launch would make sense, but nothing has been announced yet.
