Nike Basketball is reaching back into its old Force, Flight, and Uptempo setup for its next generation of performance shoes. The Nike GT Force is the latest model to surface, recently appearing on the feet of Seattle Storm forward Awa Fam. Top college prospect and Nike NIL athlete Tyran Stokes has also shared photos of the unreleased shoe.

The G.T. Force goes against the low-cut direction seen across much of basketball footwear right now. It has a true high-top shape with a heavily built upper and what appears to be a molded piece wrapping the toe. The midsole is just as noticeable, using a large zig-zag section along the side that gives the shoe a thicker, more aggressive profile.

Force was once one of the main categories used to organize Nike Basketball shoes. Models carrying the name were generally aimed at bigger, stronger players who needed more support. Flight was associated with quicker, explosive players, while Uptempo filled the space between those two styles.

That same idea is starting to show up again under the Greater Than line. AJ Dybantsa was spotted earlier this summer in the new G.T. Flight, and the G.T. Force gives us a second piece of what looks to be a larger shift for the series. A G.T. Uptempo would bring all three of Nike Basketball’s older categories back under the current G.T. name.

A release date for the Nike GT Force has yet to be announced.
