The Nike Giannis Freak 8 “Etched in Stone” takes one of the more recognizable patterns from Giannis Antetokounmpo’s signature line and pushes it across nearly the entire shoe. Black and white swirls cover the upper and continue onto the outsole, giving the Freak 8 a marble-like finish that traces back to a similar graphic used on the Zoom Freak 4.
Instead of carrying that pattern through the whole design, the midsole switches to solid black and uses lighter veining for a different stone effect. The change helps separate the upper from the tooling without dropping the theme altogether. Small metallic gold Swooshes sit along the side panels, while lime green appears in smaller doses on the heel, tongue, and sections of the outsole.
The marble treatment has already shown up in more than one form on the Freak 8. Giannis was seen earlier this summer wearing a lighter version built around a mostly white marble look. That colorway has not been confirmed for a retail release, but it gives a look at another variation Nike has prepared around the same concept.
Giannis’ eighth signature model continues a line that has regularly mixed performance basketball details with louder graphics and personal themes. For the “Etched in Stone” edition, the black-and-white pattern does most of the visual work, with the gold and lime accents kept to smaller areas rather than competing with the print.
The Nike Giannis Freak 8 “Etched in Stone” is scheduled to release on August 21, 2026 for $125. The shoe will be available through Nike and select retailers online and in stores.
