Nike Dunk Low “CBGB” Pays Tribute To NYC’s Punk Heritage

Published on

Nike celebrates the legendary New York City music venue CBGB with the release of a special edition Dunk Low. Renowned as the birthplace of punk, CBGB opened in 1973 and became a haven for underground rock, hosting iconic bands like the Ramones, Blondie, and Talking Heads. Although the venue closed in 2006, its influence on music and culture remains timeless.

The Dunk Low “CBGB” captures the raw, gritty energy of the iconic club. It features a soft lilac leather upper contrasted by dark steel grey cracked leather overlays, evoking the venue’s weathered exterior. Red Nike branding across the tongue and heel nods to CBGB’s signature logo, while the insoles showcase vibrant sticker-style graphics that pay homage to the posters and decor that adorned the club’s walls.

Adding to its authenticity, the green embroidered tongue tags mimic the Bowery and Bleecker street signs outside the venue. However, a quirky detail—a misspelling of “Bleecker” on the tags—has already sparked conversation among sneakerheads.

This unique release is more than a sneaker; it’s a wearable piece of NYC’s punk history. Whether you’re a fan of music, sneakers, or both, the Dunk Low “CBGB” offers a blend of style and storytelling.

The Nike Dunk Low NYC “CBGB” is set to launch in Spring 2025. Priced at $130 USD, the pair will be available at select Nike retailers and on Nike.com. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting drop!
