In 1997, the Houston Comets became one of the original eight teams in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). They achieved an impressive feat by winning the league’s first four championships, thanks to the exceptional skills of their Big Three players: Cynthia Cooper, Sheryl Swoopes, and Tina Thompson. The legendary Van Chancellor coached the team during this period of triumph. To commemorate this historic achievement, Nike Sportswear is set to introduce the Dunk Low as part of their celebratory lineup, which also includes the Air Force 1 Low and Air Force 1 Mid.
The Nike Dunk Low “Houston Comets Four-Peat” showcases a captivating color scheme comprising Obsidian, White, University Red, and Wolf Grey. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this shoe features a full leather construction with toe box perforations, nylon tongues, and a mesh inner lining. The design incorporates an Obsidian base complemented by White overlays, and the Swooshes are embroidered and outlined in Red. On the lateral ankle, a four-finger motif pays tribute to the team’s four consecutive championships, with the years of these accomplishments elegantly displayed on the heels. The design is completed by a White midsole atop an Obsidian rubber outsole.
