In a thrilling homecoming for Devin Booker, the Phoenix Suns are set to face off against the Detroit Pistons at Michigan State University’s Breslin Center. This game holds special significance for Booker, a Grand Rapids native with deep connections to the state and MSU’s legendary coach, Tom Izzo. Despite playing his collegiate career at Kentucky, Booker’s bond with Michigan State has remained intact over the years.
In celebration of this special occasion, Booker has unveiled a unique Player Exclusive (PE) edition of his signature Nike Book 1, dubbed the “Michigan State” PE. The design embraces the school’s classic forest green colorway and features a nubuck toe box combined with canvas paneling, paying tribute to MSU’s spirit. To highlight the connection further, the heel showcases a Spartan mascot graphic, cementing the shoe’s association with the university.
While Booker was close to joining Michigan State before ultimately committing to Kentucky, his ties to the Spartans and Coach Izzo run deep. Unfortunately for sneakerheads, the Nike Book 1 “Michigan State” PE will remain exclusive to the player, with no plans for a public release.
This shoe stands as a testament to Booker’s legacy both in the NBA and in his hometown, offering a nod to the place and people who shaped his early years. Although fans won’t have the chance to cop a pair, the presence of this PE on such a memorable night adds another layer of excitement to the game.
