Nike has continued pushing 3D-printed footwear through its AirWorks program, giving a group of young designers the chance to create their own ideas around the technology. Beijing-based designer Marc Su is the latest to show what he came up with, introducing a new model called the Nike Air Max Link.
Su describes the shoe as a “link from Beijing for community to our Future,” and while the overall shape has some similarities to the Air Max 1000, the design pulls from several different parts of Nike’s past. The midsole rises and curves around the heel, where a layered support piece gives the back of the shoe a more built-up look.
Other details include openings near the collar, smooth sections that stretch from the heel toward the toe, and pointed pieces worked into the upper. The shape also has some similarities to Nike’s older Alpha Project designs. Two visible Air units are built into the forefoot, keeping Air cushioning at the center of the AirWorks concept.
The Air Max Link follows another AirWorks design created by Motoi Hatsuki that surfaced earlier this year. A small family-and-friends run of Marc Su’s pair is expected to be produced ahead of Air Max Day 2027. It is not yet clear if the Nike Air Max Link will receive a wider public release.
