Another old Nike basketball shoe is coming back, and this one goes back to Dennis Rodman’s Chicago days.
Frank Cooker recently posted an original Air Worm NDestrukt on social media, giving us the first real hint that the shoe is returning. He also added the word “Twist” to the post, so the retro may not come back exactly as it did before.
The Air Worm has a strange connection to Rodman. His nickname was used on the shoe, but he reportedly had little to do with its design and wasn’t a fan of the Air Worm logo on the heel. He ended up wearing the Shake NDestrukt instead, leaving the zippered Air Worm as more of an odd piece of Nike Basketball history.
Rodman later moved on from Nike and finished his career in Converse. Still, plenty of shoes from that era have found their way back through retros over the years.
For now, we don’t know what the “Twist” actually means. Nike could be changing a detail from the original, adjusting the branding, or doing something else with the design.
More on the Nike Air Worm NDestrukt should come out as the release gets closer. A release date has yet to be announced, but all signs point to a 2027 launch.
