Nike Air More Uptempo Celebrates 30 Years With Scottie Pippen

Published on

Scottie Pippen wore plenty of Nike sneakers during his time with the Chicago Bulls, but the Air More Uptempo is easily one of his most recognizable. He wore the model throughout Chicago’s historic 72-10 season and during the 1996 Olympics. Now, thirty years later, Nike is celebrating the shoe’s anniversary with a special Air More Uptempo ’96 that puts Pippen’s name on the design.

Before getting his own signature line, Pippen regularly wore Nike basketball models that weren’t made specifically for him. The Air More Uptempo became closely associated with the Bulls star in 1996, especially with its oversized “AIR” lettering along the sides. Despite that history, Nike hasn’t really given Pippen his own version of the shoe until now.

The “30 Years of Uptempo” replaces the familiar “AIR” lettering with oversized “PIP” branding on the lateral sides. The letters are reversed, keeping much of the original design’s appearance. Pippen’s script “P” logo appears on the heel, while an iridescent badge on the tongue adds another anniversary detail.

The Nike Air More Uptempo ’96 “30 Years of Uptempo” is expected to release on December 23rd, 2026 as part of the 30th anniversary celebration for the Nike Air More Uptempo through select retailers and Nike.com. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price tag is set at $180.
