Another new Air Max is joining the lineup this fall, though the Metro does not fit neatly beside one existing model. Its upper has the layered, technical look of an early-2000s running shoe, while the sole is much closer to what Nike has been doing with its newer cushioned runners.
Black mesh shows through most of the upper, with Light Photo Blue suede laid across the toe, sides, and heel. Molded blue pieces add more structure around the laces and midfoot. There are traces of the Air Max Moto 2K and V2K Run in the way those sections overlap, but the shape is different enough that the Metro does not come off as a reworked version of either pair.
Off-white suede around the toe and heel breaks up the black and blue, and the speckled midsole keeps that lighter shade from looking too clean. White laces and lining handle most of the remaining contrast. Green branding on the tongue and outsole is a smaller detail, but it stands out once the shoe is viewed from above or underneath.
Running through the midsole is a long blue Air unit that gives the Metro a wider look than the upper suggests. The Pegasus Premium is an obvious comparison, especially from the side, although this setup is flatter and far less exaggerated. It leaves the shoe with an unusual split: older running design above, newer Air Max tooling below.
The Nike Air Max Metro “Black/Light Photo Blue” releases October 1, 2026, in adult and grade school sizes. Adult pairs are priced at $130, while GS sizing will cost $110.
