The Nike Air Max 95 Zip makes its comeback in Holiday 2025 with two bold colorways: “Loyal Blue” and “Black.”

Nike’s never been a brand to shy away from risk-taking design, and the Y2K era was no exception. A hallmark of the sneaker zeitgeist at that time was the zippered shroud. Wrapping up silhouettes from the fly-on-the-wall Flightposite by Eric Avar to running-focused models like the Air Max Sunder, these sneakers proved that a decidedly futuristic style could serve up serious utility in a package that delivered a fully enclosed experience. Nike’s doubling down on that sensibility in 2025 with the return of the Air Max 95 Zip.

Debuted in 2001 (and commonly referred to as the Air Max 95 “Z”), this sneaker reworks Sergio Lozano’s original by swapping out laces in favor of a sleek zipper-laced overlay. Upon its initial release, this iteration proved divisive among the sneaker community. Fast forward to 2025, and nostalgia for early 2000s fashion has a major hand in footwear’s new look. Ditching the leather-dominant construction of the original run, this retro instead uses hairy suede for a texturally reimagined finish. Sneakerheads will appreciate that fresh twist.

Two colorways are dropping. “Triple Black” sticks to the formula with monochromatic color accents and blackout Air units. “Loyal Blue” is all about high contrast, with a navy upper and burgundy midsole that welcome pops of red on color accents and visible cushioning. As is expected, both versions keep the oversized air pockets that have become synonymous with the 95’s third-decade history.
