Nike’s .SWOOSH initiative continues to push digital culture forward, this time tapping into low-poly gaming nostalgia with the upcoming Air Max 1 Big Head Origins. Inspired by the chunky graphics of the Donkey Kong Country era, this sneaker pays homage to the pixelated aesthetic of classic Nintendo 64 and PlayStation 1 games.
To mark the occasion, Nike has partnered with BAIT for a special live raffle event on March 15th. This exclusive drop gives sneakerheads a chance to secure a pair before the official SNKRS release. The Air Max 1 Low Poly design follows in the footsteps of Nike’s previous “Adventure” edition, which nodded to Tomb Raider’s early polygonal visuals. While not an official Nintendo collaboration, the sneaker’s design unmistakably draws from ’90s-era gaming aesthetics.
BAIT’s raffle event kicks off at 11 AM PT, with winners announced at 2 PM PT. Attendees can expect more than just sneakers, as the event will feature a food truck, live music, and a Nintendo 64 gaming tournament with classics like GoldenEye and Mario Kart.
For those eager to join the action, sign up for the event at BAIT here.
