On October 27, 2023, the Doernbecher Freestyle XIX Collection debuted, showcasing six distinct collections. Patient-designers from Doernbecher imagined iconic footwear, including an Air Jordan 3, Nike Dunk High, Nike Go FlyEase, Nike ACG Mountain Fly 2 Low, Nike Cortez, and Nike Air Max 1 ’86.

Hailey, who underwent five heart surgeries, celebrated her medical journey with a special heart-inspired shoe—the Air Max 1 ’86. Five hand-drawn hearts on the toe box symbolize each family member. A detachable bracelet, adorned with 10 charms representing Hailey’s favorite things, pays tribute to her love of customizable dolls. Squiggly lines on the midsole and laces, drawn by Hailey, evoke the serenity of ocean waves. The anatomical heart logo on the tongue, sketched by Hailey’s doctor, explains the surgery process for what Hailey’s mom calls her “very special heart.” Gold specks on the outsole and other golden elements reflect Hailey’s affinity for sparkly things, completing the lovable design.

Nike Air Max 1 ’86 Doernbecher Release Date
