New York’s subway rat gets its own Air Force 1, with Nike turning the city fixture into the theme behind an upcoming “College Grey/Pink Glaze” colorway. The official images show an Air Force 1 Low ’01 covered in rough, shaggy suede, while pizza, NYC, and subway references are worked into the smaller details.

Most of the shoe sticks with College Grey, but the shaggy suede keeps it from looking too plain. That rough finish covers just about everything, including the toe, side panels, Swooshes, and tongue. Pink Glaze is worked in around the Swooshes and midsole, then shows up again on the translucent outsole.

The New York references become much more obvious away from the upper. A thin pink piece extends from the back of the heel like a rat tail, while “NYC” embroidery sits behind the tongue with a small Swoosh running through it. The insoles complete a large pizza slice graphic when placed side by side, a fitting detail for a shoe built around New York’s subway rats.

A yellow hangtag designed to resemble a MetroCard comes attached to the pair, replacing the usual transit graphics with a large blue Swoosh. Pink replacement laces are also included for anyone who wants more color, while tonal laces and Nike Air embroidery keep the standard setup fairly understated.
