The New Balance P400 “Black/Team Red” arrives as the clearest sign yet of the brand’s new “P” naming system. Underfoot, the ride blends standard EVA with a Fresh Foam X core. A firmer lateral midsole panel adds stability without feeling stiff.

Up top, the black, white, and red palette keeps things direct. Reinforced mesh builds the base layer. A flexible TPU cage wraps the sides for structure. It holds the foot in place without looking bulky or overdesigned.

It just feels like a deliberate pivot. New Balance has stopped trying to chase trends. Instead they are focusing and honing their basketball game. Little tweaks here and there make a difference. The silhouette reads more cohesive than years prior. It doesn’t feel rushed.
