New Balance is adding the 983 to its lifestyle lineup, and the early look puts it somewhere near the 9060 without turning it into a direct follow-up. The connection is mostly underfoot. A wide, sculpted sole bends around oversized ABZORB pods, giving the model a bulky shape that immediately stands out.

Three colorways have surfaced so far. One pairs muted blue synthetic overlays with dark grey mesh, finished with lavender inside the cushioning units. Grey laces, lining and heel panels keep the palette fairly restrained, even with the glossy pieces running across the upper.

The tan pair shifts closer to the New Balance look most people already know. Light brown suede covers the upper alongside off-white underlays, grey sections and faded green around the eyelets and heel. Pale blue pods show through the neutral sole and add a small bit of contrast.

Red mesh and shiny overlays make the third colorway the brightest of the group. Softer pink appears near the collar and heel, while grey laces and lining break up the stronger colors. Blue-tinted cushioning units sit inside the red midsole.

Oversized “N” branding, oval mesh windows and the same molded ABZORB sole carry across all three versions. New Balance has not confirmed official color names, pricing or a release date for the 983. The model is expected to arrive in late 2026 or early 2027 through NewBalance.com and select retailers.
