Continuing their archival revival series, New Balance has the 204L “Pearl Grey,” a minimalist iteration of New Balance’s early-2000s running style.

Done in plush suede with a palette of light grey and off-white hues, the sneaker is as low key as it gets. An off-white and grey dual tone outsole provides a hint of contrast to a shoe that is otherwise all about serene neutrality.

Revisiting hallmark sculpted side panels and a debossed “N” logo, this 204L is as much of a callback to the brand’s Y2K running archives as the quietly cool dad sneaker connoisseur could ask for. Textural and structural elements balance to give this silhouette a sense of always-versatile understatement that never feels overstated.
