Two of New Balance’s present-day runners are getting combined into one new shoe. The 1954 borrows a 1906-inspired upper and places it atop of a 2002 silhouette, giving New Balance another tiered lifestyle runner without dipping directly into an old style.
Wide premium mesh gives the upper its base, while suede overlays sweep across the sides and build out the shape around the “N” logo. The look is familiar to New Balance’s recent retro-tech direction, but the paneling gives the 1954 its own lane. Underfoot, the model adds ABZORB cushioning in the forefoot for a more comfortable everyday feel.
Three colorways will introduce the silhouette: “Sea Salt,” “Slate Grey,” and “Black.” New Balance keeps the first lineup neutral, which makes sense for a brand-new model. Instead of pushing loud color blocking, each pair lets the mixed materials take care of the work.
The New Balance 1954 releases July 2026 through New Balance and select retailers in-store and online. Each pair will retail for $190 USD.
