Miu Miu continues to reshape the New Balance 530, this time turning the slimmed-down runner into something closer to a ballet shoe. The latest 530 SL builds on the two brands’ ongoing partnership while taking the low-profile design further than their previous releases.

Much of the familiar 530 SL shape remains, but the upper has been reworked with a softer, more stripped-back construction inspired by traditional ballet footwear. That change gives the shoe a noticeably different look from the standard New Balance 530, which has a bulkier mesh-and-suede running build.

Ballet sneakers have become a bigger part of women’s footwear over the past few seasons, with brands mixing the shape of a ballet flat with details normally found on sneakers. The 530 SL was already well suited for that direction because Miu Miu and New Balance had removed much of the volume from the original model.

Instead of simply adding ballet-inspired details to a regular 530, this version pushes the existing SL design even lower and closer to the foot. It also continues Miu Miu’s approach of using familiar New Balance models as a starting point rather than leaving their original proportions untouched.

The Miu Miu x New Balance 530 SL Ballerina Pack is available now through Miu Miu, with each pair priced at $1,170.
