DIAMOND BAR, CA – Hot on the heels of their success with the first series, famed creative agency MINDstyle has teamed up again with designer CoolRain to bring out a new series of NBA figures just in time for the New Year. BAIT – a Southern California-based lifestyle brand, and PYS.com – a Southern California-based online boutique store, will be the first retailers in the United States to carry this exclusive collection.
The MINDstyle x CoolRain NBA Collector Series 2 Figures is designed to celebrate the much-anticipated 2012-2013 NBA season, featuring intriguing storylines and renewed rivalries. The set features eleven new NBA players making their debut in the collector series. The set will be available at BAIT and on PYS.com on December 27th, 2012, making them the first retailers in the United States to have this exclusive collection available.
The set features miniature versions of eleven bright NBA stars: LeBron James, Chris Paul, Rajon Rondo, Jeremy Lin, Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol, Chris Bosh, John Wall, and Stephen Curry, each of which are fitted with their respective team’s away colors. Coming off their first championship together as a unit, two of the Big Three in South Beach, James and Bosh of Miami Heat, are looking to repeat as NBA champs to cement their place in history, and their finals opponent, Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunders, are trying to build their own dynasty out west. Meanwhile in Los Angeles, the old guard Lakers, with their new front court tandem of Howard and Gasol, and the up-and-comer Clippers, with their charismatic point guard Paul and explosive forward Griffin, are trying to get their teams back to the promise land. The rest of the collection consist of 4 young point guards, with Rondo trying to keep the title window of Boston Celtics open, Wall trying to prove his worth as a number-1 draft pick on the Washington Wizards, Curry trying to stay healthy on the Golden State Warriors and claim a spot among the league’s top young point guards, and Lin trying to show everyone that “Linsanity” wasn’t just a one-hit-wonder and that he can work with new teammate Harden to propel the Houston Rockets back to the playoffs picture.
The set comes after the BAIT-exclusive release of The CoolRain x NBA Glow in the Dark Collecitble Set by MINDstyle that was released on the opening day of the 2012-2013 NBA Season. The limited set featured six NBA All-Stars, several of which also appears in the Series 2 collectible sets, with luminous glow-in-the-dark bodies for a spooky, eye-catching touch and was limited to 1000 sets.
The officially licensed mini figurine collection began its run in 2010 as a collaboration between two great minds – Korean artist and designer CoolRain and style-driven creative agency MINDstyle. The CoolRain x MINDstyle NBA Collector Series is offered in blind boxes and has featured players like Kevin Garnett, Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade, Steve Nash, Carmelo Anthony, Dirk Nowitzki, Kobe Bryant, Brandon Roy, Amare Stoudemire, plus elusive chase figures and 18-inch releases.
