Matthew M. Williams, founder of 1017 ALYX 9SM, recently gave us a first look of his Nike collaboration back in June at the Paris Fashion Week.
Today, he gives us a preview look of his Nike sneaker via Instagram. This prototype sample is highlighted with a molded Vibram outsole with an attached strap. A Black upper, cord lacing system, zipper on the medial ankle, dual branding on the midsole atop a White trail midsole completes the design.
Check out the detailed photos below, and look for the Matthew M. Williams x Nike Free TR 3 SP to release later this summer at select retailers and Nike.com.
UPDATE: Nike has officially reveals that both of the Matthew M. Williams x Nike Free TR 3 SP will release exclusively at Virgil Abloh’s NikeLab Chicago Re-Creation Center on June 8th. A global release will go down on June 27th.
“This shoe embodies the multi-functionality of our modern urban existence,” says Williams. “We are proud to have collaborated with Vibram on the detachable crampon rubber sole, which allows for the shoe to be used as a minimal trainer inside of a gym or as a resilient boot on city streets or park trails.”
The high-cut design is a women’s model inspired by the Free TR Flyknit 3, while the mid-cut pair with a medial zipper at the collar is exclusively for men that re-imagined the Free Train 3.
UPDATE: Following an official look at the upcoming Matthew M. Williams x Nike Free TR 3 SP, the designer has also revealed another upcoming silhouette form his collaborative collection with Nike. This model is very similar to the Nike Free TR 3 SP, that ditches the Swoosh branding on the ankle collar for a zipper enclosure on the medial side. It will be available in three color options: Black/Red, Black, and Light Bone. Stay tuned for release details.
