Jordan Brand Celebrates Flight 23 at Footaction Grand Opening in New York

This morning in midtown Manhattan, Jordan Brand president Larry Miller, Footaction CEO Jake Jacobs and filmmaker Spike Lee officially welcomed the first consumers to Flight 23 at Footaction. The group untied a pair of giant shoelaces to signify the opening of the store, welcoming hundreds of fans lined up at the store on West 34th Street.

Jordan fans and sneaker enthusiasts braved the cold weather and formed long lines beginning Friday for a chance to be among the first to tour Flight 23 and shop the wide assortment of Jordan footwear and apparel.

Once inside, each consumer received a personalized shopping experience led by their own Footaction team member to assist with shopping and provide a tour of the store. Consumers were greeted by a product-first design, blending the feeling of high-end sport with premium menswear boutique.

“With Flight 23, we’re thrilled to bring the Jordan Brand vision to life in three-dimensional form, only steps from where Michael himself experienced some of his finest moments as a player,” said Miller. “Through our partnership with Footaction, we’ve created a retail experience that not only pays homage to where Jordan Brand has been, but also speaks to our vision for the future.”

As consumers filed into the store, they were immersed in the style that all have come to expect from Jordan Brand – elephant print walls that nod to the Air Jordan III and flooring emblazoned with the retro “Wings” logo — alongside modern interactive video displays. The store’s centerpiece is a spectacular, custom “23” chandelier made of 340 individual gold Jumpman logos.

Consumers weren’t the only ones eager to experience Flight 23. Members of the Jordan family and celebrity fans of the brand in town for the weekend’s big game stopped by the store—and they were just as excited to get their first look at the space. The night before the grand opening, Earl Thomas and Carmelo Anthony stopped by for a sneak peak.

“This is like Jordan’s house in New York. I’ve been excited about this for a long time, and it’s even crazier than I would have thought,” said Carmelo Anthony after getting his first look at the store.

Dedicated to helping athletes take flight with the best in performance footwear and apparel, Flight 23 will feature the widest assortment of Jordan footwear and apparel, including regular retro drops and the latest performance product, such as the Melo M10 Black History Month, available starting today.
