Boston Celtics star and 2024 NBA Finals MVP, Jaylen Brown, is forging a new path with his independent performance brand, 741 Performance. After turning down over $50 million in endorsement deals from big footwear companies, Brown chose to design and own his own products. The brand’s first sneaker, the 741 Performance Rover “Black Moon,” is now available for pre-order.

The name 741 carries deep personal meaning for Brown. It connects to spiritual values found in numbers that have appeared throughout his life. The number 7 stands for spiritual growth, 4 represents hard work, and 1 signifies new beginnings. These numbers reflect Brown’s journey towards independence and empowerment, making his brand unique in the world of sports.

Brown’s vision for 741 Performance goes beyond just making sneakers. “741 is more than a sneaker brand—it’s a statement of independence, creativity, and ownership,” Brown explained. His decision to reject major endorsements aligns with his goal to empower athletes and change how they work with brands. He stresses the importance of owning your brand, not only for himself but for future athletes as well.

Inspired by the late Kobe Bryant, who was also planning to start his own sneaker brand, Brown is continuing a legacy of innovation. “Kobe’s path taught me to be fearless and push the limits of sports and society,” he said. This fearless attitude drives Brown’s work with 741 Performance.

The 741 Performance Rover “Black Moon” sneaker is now available for pre-order. The official release is set for October 22, 2024, on the brand’s website.
