Knicks fans have waited over 50 years to see another championship banner go up at Madison Square Garden, so you know Jalen Brunson had to bring out something special for the occasion. For tonight’s banner ceremony, Brunson has an all-gold Nike Kobe 6 Protro ready to go with New York’s championship uniforms.
PJ Tucker got his hands on the shoes before the game and gave everyone a first look. Some thought Brunson might wear his Nike Kobe 3 Low Protro “Arancia” PE, especially after Foot Locker dropped the shoe at a pop-up just a few blocks from the Garden earlier in the day.
The Kobe 6 has been one of Brunson’s go-to sneakers for a while now, but this gold pair is on another level. Tucker even called them “the hardest Kobe’s EVER made.” The shoes match the Knicks’ championship jerseys, which have gold stitching and special patches for the occasion.
Brunson has been holding it down for Nike’s Kobe line in the NBA, wearing different Kobes throughout his time on the court. He’s become one of the familiar faces associated with the brand, much like DeMar DeRozan and Devin Booker before him.
