Building on the success of Ja Morant’s first signature shoe, Nike has introduced the second-generation Ja 2, designed to maximize comfort and support. This shoe is built for the full grind of a basketball season, including takeoffs, landings, and lateral movements.

“From the Ja 1 to the Ja 2, the essentials remain,” says Morant. “The focus is comfort, bounce, and bringing my fans new stories. These stories come alive through the shoe’s colorways.”

The Ja 2 features a forefoot Air Zoom unit for added bounce, helping players make quick shifts on the court. A molded midfoot panel ensures lockdown control, perfect for those who run the break or take on defenders one-on-one. The underfoot traction pattern, inspired by the semitrailer tires from Morant’s childhood training sessions, enhances cutting with confidence.

A key design element is the silhouette’s sidewall guardrail, which stabilizes players during explosive takeoffs. The waterfall-inspired collar lining and ankle padding provide extra comfort for all types of movement. Additionally, the ballistic mesh upper offers breathability, ensuring players stay cool no matter the game’s intensity.

Morant’s personal touch is seen throughout the Ja 2, with colorways that mirror his game style and background as Nike Basketball’s first Gen Z signature athlete. The “Purple Sky” colorway is inspired by his electrifying performance on the court, drawing parallels to the mesmerizing sight of a purple night sky.

The Nike Ja 2 tells Morant’s story both as a player and a person. It reflects his roots, his connection to future generations, and his resilience in the face of challenges.

The Nike Ja 2 launches with the “Induction” colorway on September 26th, followed by the “Purple Sky” on October 8th. Both will retail for $120 USD at select Nike Basketball stores, online, and on Nike.com.
