The Indiana Hoosiers athletic department has officially pulled the plug on the debut of their Fear of God Athletics (FOG) uniforms, a collaboration with adidas, amid controversy tied to the brand’s past association with Kanye West. The cancellation comes after recent social media activity by West, leading the university to reconsider the uniform’s debut.
The Indiana women’s basketball team was originally scheduled to wear the alternate FOG jerseys against Ohio State. However, before tip-off, the team reverted to their traditional uniforms. A now-deleted social media post hinted that the decision was directly influenced by concerns over the FOG/adidas connection to Kanye West.
In an official statement, Indiana University clarified, “Indiana’s men’s and women’s basketball programs will not be wearing the Fear of God uniform design in any upcoming games. IU will continue to proudly wear Adidas apparel, including our traditional basketball uniforms.”
Though the Hoosiers had previously sported FOG jerseys last season, the future of their partnership with Fear of God Athletics remains uncertain. Despite this development, FOG still plans to release an “Indiana” colorway of its II Basketball model in March 2025. However, whether this release will move forward as planned remains unclear.
As the situation evolves, fans and the sneaker community will be watching closely to see if the Indiana Hoosiers and Fear of God can navigate this setback and revisit future collaborations.
