ASICS is officially pushing the GEL-NYC lineage forward, and the next step comes with purpose. The HAL Studios x ASICS GEL-NYC 2.0 arrives as a culture-led evolution, tying modern design to New York’s enduring creative influence.
The first collaboration is from HAL Studios, but its narrative remains in the city. Wu-Tang Clan’s black-and-yellow “Shaolin ’93” colorway is an homage to both its signature palette and influence on early-’90s street culture. A complementary style, “Queens ’94” flips the perspective to Nas, channeling black-and-brown hues from Illmatic and its legacy.
Material choices reinforce that narrative. Reflective hits reference city lights, while textured panels mirror steel, pavement, and worn concrete. Subtle industrial cues, including metal eyelets and debossed leather, ground the shoe in infrastructure rather than nostalgia.
From a design standpoint, the GEL-NYC 2.0 sharpens its identity. A chunkier midsole, oval heel cutouts, removed mudguard, and layered construction add depth without losing the model’s everyday wearability.
The HAL Studios x ASICS GEL-NYC 2.0 is confirmed for January 2026, with full launch details still to come.
