Ever since this epidemic broke out, sneakers have just felt trivial to talk about. But at the same time, it feels like a necessary distraction. As sneakerheads, you can’t just shut that part of you off, even as you prioritize what is, and what isn’t, essential. Even still, people are still finding ways to indulge themselves. And although I’m all about being practical, and keeping one’s priorities in order, who am I to be any different? Besides, one little article wouldn’t hurt….
Jordan Brand’s newest addition, Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks, was the first to tease this release. I guess you could consider this his first Air Jordan retro. The “Mindfulness” Air Jordan Retro 1 Mid was the first to debut from this pack. Mostly white, with hits of green and violet, the feature that made this pair stand out was the opaque phrases “Breathe & Center” and “Center & Breathe” seen on both heels. This pair is available now at all House of Hoops locations, FootLocker.com, and on Nike.com.
But you’re looking for something a little less subtle? Ok, I got you.
The next shoe from this pack highlights the pregame rituals of both Sacramento Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox and WNBA star, Brittney Griner, of the Phoenix Mercury. The “Music” Nike Air Force 1 comes with a white base, accented by a Swoosh and heel tab featuring lenticular designs inspired by acoustic waveforms. You know? Music. Hence the name of the shoe? An even more amplified design appears on the lateral forefoot, and on the sockliner, using hotter reds and yellows. Nothing too crazy, but it’ll definitely catch your eye. This pair drops on Thursday, May 14th, exclusively at House of Hoops locations and online at FootLocker.com.
You feel those, but you’re looking for that head turner. Something that will grab people’s attention without LOOKING like you’re trying to get their attention. I get it. No one wants to appear desperate. I think this next shoe from the pack will do.
The Ben Simmons inspired Nike Blazer Mid ’77 rounds out the pack as the standout of the group. Unbound by things like subtility, this shoe almost shouts at you to pick it up from off the store shelf. (Or web page, seeing that we’re all still currently quarantined). In honor of the Philadelphia guard, and his pregame mindset, the phrase “Heart In The Game” appears on the cracked grey suede upper of one shoe, while the phrase “Pride & Passion” appears on the other. “Dedication” and “Motivation” also appear on opposite heel tabs. The shoe is made complete with a Yellow Swoosh and a gum bottom outsole. This pair releases on Thursday, May 21st, exclusively at House of Hoops locations and on FootLocker.com.
As always, good luck on securing you a pair. And from all of us at Sneaker Bar Detroit, and Foot Locker, we hope everyone remains safe and healthy as we try to weather this storm and return to some normalcy at the appropriate time. #Sneakerheads.
