Japanese artist and label owner Verdy has recently partnered with Dover Street Market London for a pop-up event that will go on until August 27th. Amongst the series of drops being unveiled in-store is this New Balance 991v2 collaboration, that comes under Verdy’s VK Design Works sub-label.
Teased first on his social media handle @vkdesignworks, the silhouette is inspired by British clubwear style. Suede and leather overlays in a deep brown shade are used to construct the upper, which is also equipped with plenty of off-white mesh material for ventilation. The lower consists of a sole in a white, grey and black colorway and is finished with the signature ABZORB SBS padding pods in blue. For branding, only the text “New Balance DSM” is stitched onto the tongue and a small logo for VK Design Works on the lace keeper.
The 991v2 itself is part of New Balance’s Made in England collection, a series known for high-end construction. It follows a number of other recent premium collaborations and exclusive releases from the company that have become highly sought after and is sure to be popular with collectors and casual wearers.
No official release date or pricing has been revealed, however, the sneaker is set to drop during the DSM London pop-up. The price is likely to be higher than the regular £220 GBP that the silhouette usually retails for due to Dover Street Market’s luxury reputation.
The Dover Street Market x New Balance 991v2 by VK Design Works will drop exclusively at DSM London in limited quantities.
