“A large way that we can give back to the community is [to] give back shoes. That’s what we sell here. So we know there’s a need for shoes in the community. 70 to 80 percent of all Detroit public high school students are on free or reduced lunch, so therefore we decided one way we can give back is giving every student a pair of shoes that comes to school on Count Day,” said Christian Dorsey.

Attendance on Count Day will determine the funds each school district will receive from the state. This year’s count day is October 3rd. If they show up, students will get a voucher to order their new shoes.
