Converse has collaborated with Chinatown Market’s Michael Cherman and Los Angeles-based artist Joshua Vides for an upcoming Chuck 70 collection.
Cherman’s vision for the shoe employs a light-sensitive, multi-tone asymmetrical canvas upper, which transforms when exposed to UV light. Vides allows for a more intentional transformation: His Chuck 70 incorporates interchangeable Velcro panels in custom Pantone colors.
Converse adds to this mix by offering a third sneaker with its own evocative release. The UNT1TL3D pack carries an exaggerated midsole and an upper features hand-drawn iterations of the phrase “NOT A CHUCK” — an ode to DIY decoration and the notion that a Chuck is defined only by the wearer.
