Patrick Walsh, the SVP and GM of atmos, explained this decision in a statement to Footwear News. He emphasized the uniqueness and authenticity of the Atmos brand. “With Atmos’s strong presence in Japan and Asia, our concentration lies in further investing in this market,” he said. “In line with our simplification plans, we’re strategically closing our three Atmos stores in North America and the Atmos U.S. website. This move aligns with our goal of delivering sneaker and street culture to our Asian customers.”

Back in November 2020, atmos merged with the renowned Philadelphia-based sneaker boutique UBIQ, forming atmos USA. A year later, Foot Locker completed its acquisition of the global atmos brand, allowing the foreign imprint to maintain its individual identity and continue operating under its original name in NYC, Philly, and DC.

The new focus for atmos will revolve exclusively around Japan and Asia, marking a significant shift in its business strategy. This strategic move aims to harness the brand’s strength and potential in these markets, serving the ever-growing appetite for sneaker and street culture in Asia.

In conclusion, atmos is bidding farewell to its American presence to concentrate on its core markets in Japan and Asia. This decision underscores the brand’s commitment to its unique identity and its determination to thrive in regions where it has already established a strong foothold.
