The ASICS GEL-Lyte III Remastered “Coral” celebrates the sneaker’s 35th anniversary with more than just a retro treatment. Shoe designer Shigeyuki Mitsui is retiring this year, giving ASICS the opportunity to pay tribute to both his work and the GEL-Lyte III as a whole.
The shoe will release June 5, 2026 and retail for $160 USD via ASICS.com. ASICS derived the “Coral” theme through Japanese wordplay, where the number 35 coincidentally resembles the word coral. From there, they built out the warm orange toned colorway, as well as graphic insoles that play into the anniversary theme once again.
Placing Mitsui’s name down the split tongue is what sets this release apart from others. The split tongue design has been iconic to the GEL-lyte III throughout the years, so allowing his name to take center stage feels much more meaningful than forcing on a logo or anniversary marking.
AFEW held an early activation for the ASICS GEL-lyte III Remastered “Coral”, allowing a handful of people to see the shoe before it released. Luckily for those that missed out on the event, June 5, 2026 release date will make the sneakers available to the public at large.
