Anthony Edwards has never needed much of an opening to start talking trash, and adidas gives him plenty of room to do it in a new short promoting the AE 3 “Cold Blooded.” LeBron James, Jaylen Brown, Jalen Brunson and his father Rick Brunson all get mentioned as Edwards works his way through the monologue.
The commercial plays out like a late-night show, with Edwards taking over as host and longtime friend Nick Maddox alongside him on music. There isn’t much of a traditional sneaker commercial feel to it. Most of the focus stays on Edwards joking about other players and doing what has become a familiar part of his adidas campaigns.
LeBron gets one of the first shots when Edwards jokes about him possibly coming to Minnesota before the weather got in the way. “He was gonna join me in Minnesota, but I think his knees wouldn’t handle the cold there,” Edwards says. He follows that up with a Philadelphia barber joke that also pulls Jaylen Brown into the conversation.
Jalen Brunson and his father, Knicks assistant coach Rick Brunson, come up later in the bit. Edwards doesn’t spend much time easing into that one either, saying, “Anybody could get it. Even your daddy. I don’t care if he your assistant coach.”
Trash talk has become a regular part of the way adidas promotes Edwards and his signature line. The commercials usually give him enough freedom to sound like himself, whether he’s calling out another player or simply playing up the confidence people already see from him on the court.
The latest spot arrives ahead of the adidas Anthony Edwards 3 “Cold Blooded” release on September 18, 2026. A Superstar using the same “Cold Blooded” color scheme will release alongside the AE 3.
