Converse and Nike have teamed up with Converse CONS team rider, former Olympian, and multi-disciplinary creator Alexis Sablone to design a unique, limited-edition skateboarding footwear pack. This collaboration includes the Converse AS-1 Pro and the Nike SB Dunk Low, both of which showcase Sablone’s artistic vision and deep connection to skate culture.
Sablone, who has previously designed skateboarding federation kits for the United States and Japan, took inspiration for this collection from her Federation Agnostic offering. The design language of the AS-1 Pro and Dunk Low is informed by the concept of a chameleon, a species known for its ability to change its skin in nearly infinite ways. This metaphor speaks to the ever-evolving nature of skateboarding and the individuality that lies at the heart of the sport. Skateboarding is a global culture that transcends boundaries of geography, class, and gender, with participants of all shapes, colors, sizes, and abilities.
The chameleon’s vibrant, unpredictable color patterns are brought to life on both footwear styles through earth-toned, tear-away uppers. The AS-1 Pro and the Dunk Low are also unified by bumpy, reptilian textures, color-changing, wear-away leather, and chameleon camo liners. Additionally, the Federation Agnostic crest is applied to the back of the tongue, tying the designs back to Sablone’s broader creative vision.
The AS-1 Pro, which is Sablone’s signature shoe co-created with Converse last year, features a chameleon-inspired, wear-away leather upper atop a white base. The Star Chevron and heel underlay come in a Fuchsia Glow tone that complements the upper’s base layer.
Similarly, the Nike SB Dunk Low features scaly, earth-toned patterns on a white upper, with a Swoosh designed to mimic a chameleon’s curving tongue. Sablone’s initials, “A S,” are embossed on the heel, leaving her personal mark on the design.
