AJ Dybantsa gave the Nike GT Flight a much different look during Washington Wizards Media Day, wearing a custom version with an oversized light-up Swoosh extending from the heel. The unusual setup was made specifically for Dybantsa and takes the upcoming basketball shoe well beyond its standard design.
The Nike GT Flight first surfaced on Dybantsa over the summer as one of the new models connected to Nike Basketball’s return to its Flight, Force, and Uptempo categories. His Media Day pair uses the GT Flight as its base, but a large attachment behind the heel makes it immediately stand apart from the regular version.
A pod mounted to the back holds a massive Swoosh that extends well past the shoe and lights up when switched on. The added piece completely changes the shape of the GT Flight, making this pair feel closer to a one-off display shoe than something Dybantsa would wear throughout a game.
This light-up Nike GT Flight is confirmed to be an AJ Dybantsa player exclusive, so the oversized Swoosh will not be part of the retail version. A release date for the standard Nike GT Flight has yet to be announced.
