Air Jordan 9 “Charcoal” Returns Fall 2027

Published on

Jordan Brand is going back to the “Charcoal” Air Jordan 9 in 2027, bringing the original colorway back after a long break. The shoe first released in 1994, then returned once in 2010, which means this will be the first time we’ve seen it in 17 years.

The 2027 pair is expected to keep the same Black, Varsity Red, and Dark Charcoal look people remember from the earlier releases. Black nubuck makes up most of the upper, while darker Charcoal panels run around the mudguard, collar, and medial side.

Varsity Red is worked into the tongue branding, lining, heel pull tabs, “23” embroidery, and globe logo on the back. The rest of the setup stays pretty familiar too, with a glossy black midsole sitting above the Air Jordan 9 outsole.

Jordan Brand is also expected to tweak the shape so it sits closer to the original 1994 pair. That kind of adjustment has shown up on more recent retros, especially when older models come back.
