Air Jordan 8 “Knicks” First Look

Published on

Jordan Brand is giving the Air Jordan 8 a New York look for the holiday season, with official images now showing exactly how the “Knicks” colorway turned out. Black does most of the work across the shoe, while bright orange and blue bring in the colors people immediately connect with the team.

The upper is covered mostly in black suede, including the straps and surrounding panels. Safety Orange and Racer Blue are spread through the tongue, lace area, heel, midsole, and molded side pieces. The colors are used in the right spots without taking over the whole shoe, which keeps the darker look of the Air Jordan 8 intact.

One detail that stands out more in the official photos is the midsole. Early mock-ups showed more black around the bottom, but the finished pair uses a much larger section of orange. That change gives the shoe more life and helps the blue panels around the heel stand out against the black upper.

The Knicks connection also fits the history of the Air Jordan 8. Michael Jordan wore the model during the 1992-93 season, when Chicago faced New York in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Bulls won that series in six games before finishing off their first three-peat with another NBA championship.

That history makes the orange and blue color scheme feel like more than just a New York-inspired combination. It brings one of Jordan’s most recognizable playoff rivals into a model tied directly to that same championship run.
