The Air Jordan 7 “Raptors”, also known as the “Playoffs” colorway, is expected to return in 2027 for the first time since 2012. Originally released in 1992, the black, red, and purple design remains one of the most recognizable looks in Air Jordan 7 history. Its return will also coincide with the model’s 35th Anniversary, adding even more significance to the comeback.

This colorway was one of the pairs Michael Jordan wore throughout the 1992 NBA Playoffs while securing his second championship with the Chicago Bulls. The Air Jordan 7 also appeared during one of his most famous moments — “The Shrug” in Game 1 of the 1992 NBA Finals after Jordan hit six first-half three-pointers against the Portland Trail Blazers. Over time, the black, red, and purple palette earned the nickname “Raptors” due to its resemblance to the early team colors of the Toronto Raptors.

Early reports suggest the 2027 retro will stay true to the original design. The sneaker is expected to feature a black nubuck upper paired with bold red and purple accents across the midsole, branding, and heel tabs. Signature geometric details on the tongue and outsole should also return, maintaining the early-1990s aesthetic that helped define the model.

When the Air Jordan 7 first debuted, it stood apart from previous Air Jordan releases. The design removed visible Air units and introduced a Huarache-style neoprene inner sleeve, focusing on a snug fit and lighter performance on the court. That forward-thinking approach made the silhouette a standout in Nike Basketball’s lineup during the early ’90s.

The Air Jordan 7 “Raptors” is currently expected to release on February 20, 2027 during NBA All-Star Weekend for $215 USD via select retailers and Nike SNKRS.
